For a photographer with such longevity, originality and variety Helmut Newton is poorly represented on the Web. His work is the precursor of much of the current work found in magazines and he devised the language o f style, eroticism, sexuality, celebrity that is often poorly rehashed today. Newton surpassed many current practitioners because underlying much of his work is a desire to make a commentary about the world he observed and participated in. The pictures are often beguiling and beautiful but the message often isn’t. More installments to follow.
